About Linton Park CC
A friendly, sociable and inclusive village cricket club on the outskirts of Maidstone, overlooking the picturesque Weald of Kent — playing since 1787.
Our story
Established in 1787 and at our present ground since 1861, Linton Park is one of Kent’s oldest village clubs — with a listed pavilion built by the Cornwallis family and, today, four Saturday XIs, two Sunday XIs, a 145-strong junior section and a fast-growing women & girls’ set-up across two grounds.
- 1646One of the earliest recorded cricket matches anywhere is played on nearby Coxheath Common on 29 May — Samuel Filmer & Thomas Harlackenden beating four men of Maidstone, the disputed wager preserved forever in the court records that followed.
- 1700sCoxheath Common goes on to stage major 18th-century matches — including Kent v Sussex fixtures — before its days as a cricket venue close in 1789.
- 1780sSir Horatio Mann of Linton Park (1744–1814) — one of the great patrons of Georgian cricket — stages big-money matches on his Kent estates.
- 1787Linton Park Cricket Club is founded.
- 1861The club moves to its present ground at Linton Park, off Heath Road.
- 1880sThe Cornwallis family build the pavilion — today a listed building.
- 1967Midweek cricket in the Maidstone & K.M. Evening Leagues.
- 1972The club's National Village Cup story begins.
- 1978🏆 National Village Cup winners at Lord's.
- 1980sSaturday league cricket in the Invicta League — the club's home for some three decades.
- 1999🏆 National Village Cup winners — a second Lord's triumph.
- 2004Sunday sides join the Kent Village Cricket League.
- 2015Saturday cricket moves to the Kent County Village League.
- 2023The club joins the Kent Cricket League, fielding four Saturday XIs.
- Sep 2023New practice nets are installed at Linton Park.
- 2024A second ground opens at Rumwood Cricket Ground, Otham.

T20 evening-league cricket and 100-ball competitions, alongside prestigious midweek and touring fixtures.

Over 145 youngsters from Under-9 to Under-17 in the Weald of Kent Junior League, with winter training for every age group.
👩 Women & Girls
A thriving and fast-growing section — U11 softball, U13/U15 girls' hardball, and a women's team in the Kent Women's league.
