He now stands level with A Barker, who took his own solitary nought back in 1885 and was crowned Duck of the Year for the trouble. - Arthur Cornwallis, opening the innings no less, fell bowled H Picket for nought — a lone blemish upon twelve innings of otherwise respectable service, sufficient this season to see him named Duck of the Year 1888, and 32nd of 166 upon the honours board. He too joins A Barker's modest company of one career cipher. - C Leveson-Gower (No. 9), scarcely arrived upon the scene, was caught Captain H Mann, bowled H Picket, for a duck on only his second innings for the club — a debutant's welcome into the exclusive zero club, and 35th of 166 in the all-time list. He keeps company with A Barker's tally of one, in rather quicker time than most.
